≡ Who Is D.K. Thompson?
Wait wait wait…is it D.K. Thompson, DKT, or Dave?
A few years ago, when I started submitting my short stories for publication, I came to a conclusion: there are way too many Dave Thompson’s out there. There are even some who are writers (and more who are not). Google Dave Thompson if you don’t believe me. (For bonus credit, try googling variations of T(h)om(p)son.)
So DK seemed like a good way to go.
This had the unexpected consequence of people calling me DK. Usually this is online, and it doesn’t take me more than a couple of minutes to realize they’re talking about/to me. Generally, I go by Dave, although I’m starting to get used to a people calling me DK.
I know it’s a little confusing. Personally, I blame Jim Kelly (AKA James Patrick Kelly).
Okay, but WHO are YOU?
That’d be telling, wouldn’t it? Betraying my secret identity to the world and putting everyone I love at risk. (Email me for my in-laws address.)
(Just kidding Mom and Dad.)
I’m a devout member of the church of Fox Mulder, whom he describes as the 13th apostle of Christ (screw Chris Rock). In my spare time, I’m a practicing Quaker. I also write Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror. Sometimes, I write all of them at the same time. My work’s been published by Pseudopod, Hub, Apex Online, Murky Depths, and Variant Frequecies. I live in Southern California with my wife, daughter, and two cats. When I’m not with them, or writing technical documentation (the most terrifying literature of all!), I can be found wandering through bookstores with a glassy-eyed expression in search of coffee and interesting things to read.
